About Us

A space for YOU. A place for YOU.

A vortex is a portal, a sacred spiral of energy and renewal.

Each practice invites you to step, to step through the unseen - to move, to breathe, and to come home to yourself.

Here the body becomes the teacher, the heart the guide and with each turning breath a doorway to wholeness to be gloriously YOU!

My journey with yoga didn’t begin as a spiritual practice — it began through movement and fitness.

After teaching in gyms for many years, I was drawn to yoga for the physical benefits: strength, flexibility and challenge. I enjoyed the practice, but at the time I saw it mainly as another way to exercise and push myself physically.

Everything began to shift after having my first child, when I started attending mum-and-baby yoga classes. One day during a meditation practice, I experienced something I had never truly understood before — a sense of connection, calm and presence that stayed with me long after class ended. That was the moment my relationship with yoga changed completely.

Over the years, yoga became far more than movement for me. It became a source of healing, grounding and restoration.

Having worked in the fitness industry for over two decades, I also understand the challenges many people face within their bodies. I have personally navigated back injuries, osteoarthritis and spinal degeneration, and after trying many different therapies, it was a consistent yoga practice that helped me reconnect with and support my body in a way nothing else had before.

But perhaps even more importantly, yoga transformed my mindset. It helped me become calmer, more patient, more accepting and more connected to myself.

Opening Vortex Yoga Studio is my way of sharing that experience with others.

My intention is to create a welcoming space where everybody feels comfortable — regardless of age, experience, flexibility, fitness level or background. Whether you come to yoga for movement, healing, rest, strength, stillness or simply a moment to breathe, you are welcome here.

You do not need to “look” a certain way, be spiritual, flexible or experienced to begin.

You simply need to arrive as you are.

Be Gloriously You.

With so much love,

Emma

Meet Melanie

Melanie has worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years. Through extensive training, courses, and qualifications, she discovered a deep passion for Pilates— a practice that builds strength while keeping the body supple, lengthened, and well supported. Pilates plays a vital role in improving posture and developing strong, functional core stability.

As Melanie began to notice changes in her own body and training, she started exploring perimenopause.

What she discovered was eye-opening and, at times, disappointing. Despite the fact that every woman will experience menopause, there is still very little clear and accessible information available about the symptoms or how to effectively support the body during this transition.Melanie is passionate about changing this. She invites women to join her menopause workshop for a friendly, informative evening designed to educate, empower, and support women through this important stage of life.

Ellie’s background is in working with children and young people as a gymnastics coach. She has been coaching for many years and trained as a gymnast herself. In her classes, you’ll notice her love of flexibility work, balanced with a strong focus on building strength around the muscles — something she knows is essential for a healthy, capable body.

After attending yoga classes for several years, Ellie realised how much she truly loved yoga. She decided to train as a yoga teacher, originally without the intention of teaching. She travelled to Greece to study the foundations of yoga, immersing herself in its history, philosophy, and stories. When she returned, she was offered a teaching slot — which she accepted to continue nurturing her passion.

Ellie is an enthusiastic yoga teacher who brings positive energy, creative flows, and mindful movement to every class. She loves supporting students to challenge themselves, breathe deeply, and discover just how strong and capable they truly are.

You’ll find Ellie covering classes in the studio from time to time, and you may also see her on a mat in class — so be sure to say hello when you do.

Fun Facts About Vortexes

Where Are They Found?

Vortexes or Vortices are found at sacred sites throughout the world – the Great Pyramid in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, Bali, Stonehenge, Uluru/Ayers Rock in Australia, etc.

What Is A Vortex?

Can A Vortex Heal You?

This energy is said to be conducive to healing, meditation and self-discovery. Supposedly, these places are bridges between the realm of nature spirits and mankind - the earth here is alive. Many feel inspired, recharged or uplifted after visiting a vortex.

A Vortex is a spinning or spiralling flow of fluid around a central axis, creating a whirlpool -like motion.(You are approximately 60-70 % fluid with a central axis, your skeleton).
